Holland (1942- )
Participated CP 1999 Andrea took courses in Art at the Academy of Fine Art in The Hague. He now lives in Paris, where he paints and is professor at the National School of Fine Art. Ironic eroticism and contained violence are the principal elements in his paintings and drawings, which critics have likened in spirit to the work of Balthus and Bacon. From a formal point of view, he combines the lessons of the classics with a grotesque brand of contemporary expressionism, creating direct and highly intense images. At the Experimental Workshop, he transposed his singular ability to draw and the playful spirit that characterizes his work onto the skin of his models. |
