Peru (1925- )
Participated CP 199 Szyszlo studied Art at the Catholic University in Lima and was later named Professor of Painting, a post he held there from 1957 to 1976. He has presented more than 100 individual exhibitions in museums and galleries in Latin America, Europe and the United States and has participated in the Biennials of Sao Paulo and Venice. He was an important figure in the development of abstract art in Latin America in the 1950s, as well as in the artistic renovation of Peru. His work incorporates the theme of Perus ancient cultures, through the use of a non-representational visual language based on color, texture and light. At the Experimental Workshop, he created a mysterious personage charged with archaic symbolism. |
