Colombia (1945- )
Participated CP 1992 Barrios studied Art at the School of Fine Art in Barranquilla, Architecture at the University of the Atlantic, and Art History at the University of Perugia and the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice. He is an outstanding teacher and art critic. His work has followed a varied but coherent evolution, incorporating references to kitsch, surrealism, Pop and conceptual art. He worked with calendars, comic strips, religious prints and reproductions of art works, contrasting popular idiosyncrasies with more cultured images. Alluding to masochistic pleasure at the Experimental Workshop, Barrios produced a contemporary allegory to the martyred St. Sebastian. |
